The Brazilian General Personal Data Protection – LGPD (Law No. 13,709/2018) comes into force today (18), which means that all companies that deal with personal data (i.e. customers, employees, suppliers, commercial representatives, among others) must comply with the provisions of this law.

Although the administrative sanctions are only expected to take effect on August/2021 (Law No. 14,010/2020), companies can already be legally liable for damages caused to third parties due to improper treatment of personal data. Therefore, if your company is not in compliance with the LGPD yet, it is essential to start the project as soon as possible. The F/A Regulatory team is available to start the process of implementing data protection and privacy programs.
